10th Annual LCMC Three Days of Prayer

Coming Together as One in Prayer

Scripture Text: Luke 11:1

Prayer was a holy habit practiced by Jesus (Mark 1:35; Luke 11:1). His disciples witnessed a connection between his life and ministry, and his discipline of prayer. It was a connection so significant that they asked Jesus to teach them to pray (Luke 11:1). LCMC’s Three Days of Prayer (January 4 – 6, 2022) is an opportunity for us to follow the Lord’s example, coming together as one across the association with a shared purpose: to pray. Following are some suggested points of emphasis for each of the three days. These are not the only things to be prayed for, of course, but they can be points of daily emphasis that bring us all together as one in prayer.

Day One, January 4, 2022
Pray for our congregations, pastors, and leaders.

“Lord, we pray that you bless our congregations, pastors, and other leaders with your favor and with your provision to carry out the ministry and mission you have in store for us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen”

Let us pray for provision: provision of people. Provision of just the right relationships in our communities at just the right time. Provision of finances for ministry and mission. Provision of favor with community leaders and with those who do not yet know Jesus as Savior and Lord. Provision of training resources to equip God’s people for what the Lord wants to do in us and through us. Provision of spiritual gifts that can help us impact others with God’s love and God’s power. Provision of the joy and boldness to the gospel as it comes through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit being stirred within us.

Day Two, January 5, 2022
Pray for those who don’t yet know Jesus as Savior and Lord, and for the prodigals.

“Lord, give us your heart for those who don’t yet know you as Savior and Lord, and for the prodigals in our churches and communities. Create in us a boldness to love them and serve them and to share the gospel with them as opportunities arise. Open our eyes to be aware of everyday encounters in which we may minister your love and power to those in need. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen”

Today, let’s pray that God will bring us together as one across our association in praying that millions might be drawn to a relationship of love for and faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord. Let’s also pray that the Lord might bring home the prodigals who have walked away from a life of faith. Ask the Father to call home our friends and neighbors, spouses, daughters, sons, and grandchildren. Pray that God might set them free from any hurt or deception that has driven them away from their relationship with him. Let’s pray that they might experience God’s love and acceptance and affirmation as his beloved daughters and sons.

Day Three, January 6, 2022
Pray for our ministry and mission partners.

“Thank you, Lord, that you have bound us together with other churches, missions, and ministry partners. We pray that you will give them protection and provide all their needs. We ask that you will show us how we may better assist them, encourage them, and serve with them. Lord, we pray especially for the work of Naomi's Heart Mission in the Philippines, and for those who bring relief to diaster areas in the US, but ask that you bless all our sisters and brothers wherever they serve throughout the world. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen”

Let us pray for God’s leading in how he would have us reach out to them and partner with them in the coming year. Let us pray for God’s provision of food, medicine, clean water, and safety where these are needed. Let us pray especially that the Holy Spirit would work powerfully through all of our ministry and mission partners.
